Your School Session

Thank you for partnering with SJ Photography for your school portraits! I'm excited to capture your students and create high-quality images that families will cherish.

Through clear communication via e-mail, we’ll coordinate all the details you need, including scheduling, photo day logistics, and any questions you or your staff may have.

My approach focuses on capturing authentic, natural portraits of each student. We aim to highlight their personality and create images that feel bright, approachable, and timeless. Instead of stiff, overly posed photos, I emphasize genuine expression and comfortable interactions, making the process quick and stress-free for both students and staff.

To help make photo day smooth, here are a few tips and guidelines for preparing students and staff:

Communication & Scheduling

After our initial zoom call, I will coordinate with you via email before photo day to confirm:

  • Date(s) and times for each class or grade
  • Setup location and space requirements
  • Special instructions or considerations (siblings, accessibility, etc.)

We will also schedule a day for me to come in and tour your school. On this day I will scout out a good location for the session and meet your staff.

On photo day, I will arrive early to set up and ensure the process begins smoothly.

Photo Day Process

On photo day:

  1. Students will arrive at the designated photo area. (I ask that students arrive in alphabetical order, if possible.)
  2. I will spend a few minutes with each student, and take their portrait.
  3. Each session takes approximately 1-3 minutes per student, minimizing classroom disruption.
