Hi! I'm Sam.

I’m a wife, homeschool mom of three girls, and the heart behind SJ Photography. Most days you’ll find me juggling snacks, school books, and a camera that rarely leaves my hand.

I've always loved the saying, "The days are long, but the years are short." And as my girls have grown, I’m surprised at how quickly time actually goes by. Family life is busy, messy, loud, but full of love. And in between all the chaos are the moments that matter most to me: the morning snuggles, the never-ending questions, the crazy laughter, and time together.

Photos have this unique ability to let the viewer step back in time to the moment it was taken, and feel the love, joy, sadness, and connection that was captured. When I was 25 I lost my dad to cancer and since then I’ve come to see what a gift it is to have photos of him around. I can step back into our stories, and feel the joy and connection all over again.

And that’s why I pick up my camera. To freeze moments in time, to capture the love, connection and uniqueness of family life. My hope is that you see the joy shining through the chaos and the love that makes your family yours.

Because one day, when the house is quieter than you ever thought it could be, these photos will remind you of the fullness of now.
